Running Fermi calculations as a superpower to gauge reality

It is a very captivating reading when the authors briefly present Nobel Physics laureate Enrico Fermi and apply his concepts to develop their objective: “to run Fermi calculations on plant biotech projects in agriculture, the built environment, energy, and materials, considering that these areas are vital for the future of industrial societies and are the focus of research, government policies, and media coverage”.

This paper aimed to show how a plant scientist armed only with Google, a calculator, and common-sense reasoning can uncover essential truths that biotech advocates, government agencies, politicians, and journalists may overlook or avoid discussing.
